Dave Ulrich

Dave Ulrich was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the "top 5 executive coaches" and by Business Week as one of the "top 10 educators" in management. He studies how organizations change, build capabilities, learn, remove boundaries and leverage human resource activities. He generates multiple award-winning national databases on organizations, which assess alignment between strategies, human resource practices and competencies.

Dave Ulrich holds a B.A. and a M.A. from Brigham Young University and earned his Ph.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Dave published more than 90 articles and book chapters. He also authored or co-authored a number of books including: Organizational Capability: Competing from the Inside/Out; The Boundaryless Organization: Breaking the Chains of Organization Structure: The Next Agenda for Adding Value and Delivering Results; Tomorrow's (HR) Management; Learning Capability: Generating Generalizing Ideas with Impact; and Results Based Leadership: How Leaders Build the Business and Improve the Bottom Line.

Dave Ulrich is a columnist for Human Resource Executive; Editor for Human Resource Management Journal and on the Editorial Board of Academy of Management Journal; Human Resource Planning; Planning Review and Human Resource Review.

Dave Ulrich is a fellow at the National Academy of Human Resources; a co-founder of the Michigan Human Resource Partnership.

Dave Ulrich is the recipient of numerous awards including: the 1998 Award for Professional Excellence in the category for Human Resource Education an honor given by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); the 1995 Pro Meritus Award from the Employment Management Association for outstanding contribution to the human resource field; Researcher of the Year Award, Society for Human Resource (1991); Paper of the Year Award, Human Resource Planning Society (1992) and the 1997 Warner W. Stockberger Achievement Award.

Dave Ulrich is a professor of business administration at the University of Michigan where he is on the core faculty of the University of Michigan Executive Program, Advanced Human Resource Executive Program co-director of the University of Michigan's Human Resource Executive Program.

The book Human Resource Champions published by Harvard Business School Press was also written by Dave Ulrich.
