Influencing skills

Influencing skills are necessary for business partners to influence business managers strategically and are therefore critical to the overall performance of the business. Business partners need this skill when dealing with executives and business managers at all levels of the organisation. Most of their working life is filled with interactions with other people which need to be effective and efficient.

The influencing skills workshop within the business partnering programme includes the following elements:

influencing strategies
techniques for identifying influencing leverage and building influencing strategies

case analysis
building an influence strategy for a current influence case for deployment back in the work place

role plays
working with colleagues to test the strategy for the influence case and practice new techniques

influencing styles
practicing a range of influence styles to enrich current influencing behaviours

power
a power profile for business partners that allows them to leverage new sources of power

dealing with resistance
recognising the symptoms, understanding the causes and learning strategies for dealing with resistance

Wherever you work, whatever your business partner role, you're undoubtedly involved in change - initiating it, promoting it, managing it or just on the receiving end of it. One of the guiding principles about organisational change is that "organisations don't change; people do". Helping people change requires the very best influencing skills.
